Let the posting begin!
I had mentioned a few times that I planned to start posting a bit more on my own website. Immediately after saying something like that, and being the person that I am, I curled up into a little ball and said “why did I say that!?!?!” However, after some time to recover I realized two important things:
1. I’m not expected to be anything at all.
2. Not every post has to be as good as the last one.
These were important realizations. Personally, I’m using this site as a public quest to become a better writer and more confident public person. I’m fine being who I am, posting what I want to post, and relaxing the unrealistic standards I have for myself. There will be days when I don’t post anything at all, days when I post a dozen little things, and days when I post things that have taken months to craft.
I am a father, husband, teacher, gamer, game-designer, and music-maker, and I want this site to reflect that in a way that I’m proud of. In doing that, I can’t treat it as some kind of cheap marketing thing. Instead, I should aim to be myself as much as possible and try to share my joys and sorrows openly. If I want to release a new game design, then that’s great, but it should exist in a world where it came into being organically.
Really, I just hope it doesn’t suck.
